DL Liquids

DL (direct-lung) liquids are made for sub-ohm tanks and high-power mods: loose airflow, large vapour and low nicotine. They are the opposite end of the spectrum from pod nic salts, and putting one in the wrong device is the most common e-liquid mistake.

Strength is low by design. DL liquids are sold at 0mg to 6mg, with 2mg and 3mg the most common. A sub-ohm coil vaporises far more liquid per puff than a pod coil, so a low strength delivers a comparable amount of nicotine. Anything above 6mg in a sub-ohm tank is harsh and unpleasant. If you vape a pod system at 20mg or more, this is not the category for you; see Nic Salts & MTL Liquids instead.

Two formats: shortfill and pre-mixed. Most DL liquids here are 120ml shortfills or flavour shots: a 120ml bottle filled to 100ml or less, leaving room for one or two 10ml nicotine shots. You add the shot yourself (SSL and NLI shots at R39 are stocked under Additives & Shots), shake and wait a few hours. Pre-mixed 2mg 120ml liquids from Cosmic Dropz, Slick and others are ready to vape at R199 to R229. Shortfills like Cape Clouds Bubble Trouble at R200 work out cheaper only if you were going to buy the shot anyway; at 0mg they need nothing added.

VG/PG ratio. DL liquids are high-VG, usually 70/30 or 80/20, which is what makes them thick, smooth and cloud-heavy. Do not use them in pod systems: high-VG liquid is too viscous for small pod coils and will cause dry hits.

Coil life. Sweet dessert and candy profiles (cookies, bubblegum, custards) gum up coils faster than fruit and menthol profiles. If coil cost matters to you, that is the trade-off to weigh.

The range covers South African brands such as Cosmic Dropz, Cape Clouds, GBOM, Five Points and Dr Vapes alongside imports, mostly in 120ml. Free delivery over R450, shipped from Cape Town.
