Nicotine Alternatives

Nicotine alternatives are nicotine products that are not vaped: oral pouches placed under the lip, nicotine gum, and nicotine mints. They contain nicotine and are adult products in exactly the same way as everything else on the site; “alternative” refers to the format, not to any claim about safety or health. ADVapes lists just over 50 of them.

The three formats. Pouches (Bewolk Wicks and Mint, and the Bewolk x Jack Parow range) are small fabric bags of nicotine and filler that sit between gum and lip for 20 to 40 minutes; they are tobacco-free and produce no vapour or smell. Gum (Yalla) and mints (E-Xhale Lipi) release nicotine as you chew or dissolve them. All three are discreet and usable where vaping is not allowed, which is the practical reason people buy them.

Strength is per unit, not per millilitre. Pouch strengths (3mg, 6mg, 10mg) and gum or mint strengths (2mg) describe the nicotine in one pouch, piece or mint, so they are not comparable to the mg/ml figures on liquids. These are product specifications, not recommendations. A 10mg pouch is a strong product intended for heavy nicotine users; 3mg and 2mg are the light end. If you are new to pouches, the lower strengths are where most people start, because the nicotine is absorbed differently from vaping and the effect can feel stronger than the number suggests.

Cost. Bewolk pouches are R89 for a tin of 20 (about R4.45 per pouch); Yalla gum is R130 for 40 pieces (R3.25 per piece); Lipi mints are R179 for 30. Compare on price per unit and on how many you get through in a day.

Stock reality. This shelf is largely empty at the time of writing. Bewolk Jack Parow Black Cherry 6mg pouches are in stock (four tins). Bewolk Wicks 3mg and 6mg, Mint 6mg, Yalla gum and Lipi mints are out of stock; Bewolk 10mg Wicks and Mint are on backorder. Check the product page before ordering.

18+ only. All nicotine pouches, gum and mints are for adults aged 18 and over. Nicotine is an addictive substance. ADVapes does not present these products as safe, as a health product or as a way to stop smoking; they are nicotine products in a different format. Do not use if pregnant or breastfeeding. Keep them away from children, for whom a single pouch or piece can be dangerous. This page is general product information only.
