How the NEXpod works
The NEXpod is a rechargeable battery that takes swappable pods. The standard prefilled pod is rated for roughly 5,000 puffs and costs R110 — you click it on, vape it, and bin the pod (not the battery) when it is done. There is also a 7000-puff pod in the range for around R139 if you want a longer run between swaps.
The interesting bit is the NEXpod refillable pod at R70. It is an empty pod with its own coil that you fill yourself from any bottle of nic salt. Once you own one, your running cost drops to the price of e-liquid.
50mg or 20mg?
NEXpod prefilled pods come in two strengths and the choice is not subtle. 50mg is a strong nic salt with a firm throat hit, aimed at people who have just put cigarettes down or who are coming across from a 50mg disposable. 20mg is noticeably smoother and is where most vapers settle after a few months.
If you are unsure, start at 20mg. It is much easier to move up a strength than to persevere with a pod that makes you cough every time you use it.
Prefilled or refillable: the real cost difference
Prefilled is simpler: no filling, no priming, no waiting. If you go through a pod a week, that is R110 a week and no thought required.
Refillable takes a little more effort but changes the maths. The pod is a one-off R70, and after that you are buying e-liquid by the bottle rather than by the pod. A 30ml bottle refills the pod many times over, and it lets you use strengths and flavours the prefilled range does not offer. Plenty of NEXpod owners keep both: prefilled pods in the car and for travel, refillable at home.
